Goulds Minor Hockey Equipment Requirements:

Equipment for ALL Players

  1. All kids must wear all required hockey equipment. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, any kids missing any equipment will not be permitted on the ice: 
  • Jock
  • Suspenders for socks (if not built into jock)
  • Shin pads
  • Socks
  • Pants
  • Skates (sharpened, Tied tight on bottom and loose on top two eyelets)
  • Shoulder pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Neck guard
  • Jersey
  • Gloves (ensure no holes in palms)
  • Helmet with full cage/shield (ensure sized correctly)
  • Stick (Length should be from floor to Childs Chin or bottom of Nose when on skates no longer than that). Do NOT put a butt ends on stick.
  1. Please be advised as per HNL rules and insurance coverage all Jerseys worn on the ice for Games and Practices must have the red stop patch affixed to the back located in the neck area.
  2. Please make sure players wearing their own jerseys to practice has the required stop patch. 


As per the Player/ Parent Agreement:

Equipment and Uniforms 

  1. Players shall wear all the equipment as specified and required by Hockey Canada (HC) and Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL) the Canadian Hockey association (CHA) while on the ice or the bench. 
  2. Equipment worn must be certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) if there is an applicable CSA equipment standard.
  3. All neck guards must be BNQ certified. 
  4. GMHA will provide appropriate jerseys with cresting and numbers for all teams. 
  5. Jerseys are the property of GMHA and shall only be worn during games. At no time are assigned league jerseys to be worn during practice sessions. 
  6. Players must wear their assigned jersey during competition. 
  7. Lettering for a player’s name shall not be placed directly on a jersey. The lettering must be placed on a cloth strip (name bar), which must be sewn on the jersey (not glued or heat applied). 
  8. Team jerseys shall be returned to the Treasurer or Association Designate upon the completion of the final team function in each respective season. 
  9. Any player who causes unnecessary damages to a jersey, or loaned equipment, as decided by the Treasurer or Association Designate, shall be suspended from all activities until the cost of the replacement has been paid. 
  10. Any player who does not return a jersey or who returns their jersey not in good condition at the end of the season shall have their postdated cheque of $100.00 cashed for the replacement cost of each jersey.
